2022 Student Code of Conduct

Each year, Queensland State Schools are required to update and share their Student Code of Conduct with their community. The Student Code of Conduct is a comprehensive document which clearly sets out expectations about staff responsibilities to support students to understand and meet discipline expectations of the College and the guidance on the application, where required, of disciplinary consequences. The Student Dress Code as well as other policies form part of the Student Code of Conduct.

In 2022, there have been a number of amendments to our Student Code; some of these initiatives and changes occurred during the 2021 school year whilst others are being freshly implemented in 2022.

We would like to make you aware of some updates:

  • In 2021, the College introduced a digital incident reporting system for non-urgent or ongoing matters of concern. Students can access the reporting system via the Student SharePoint link or through QR codes located in Student Services, Foxwellness Centre and the Learning Hubs.
  • The 2022 Foxwell SSC Detention Framework is clearly articulated on pp30-33. This outlines the College’s approach to three categories of detentions:
    • during-school hours,
    • out-of-school hours, and
    • non-school-day detentions – Saturday. Saturday detentions will often be chosen as a more logical consequence for a serious breach of Student Code of Conduct than a suspension, which would see students experiencing a disruption to classroom learning.
  • The Student Dress Code can be found on pp57-63. Please ensure this is read carefully to ensure your child is in compliance with this dress code each day. The Code clearly outlines all aspects of appearance including hair, jewellery and makeup.

Some updates to the Student Dress Code include but are not limited to:

  • Should your child be in breach of the Dress Code, please complete and send The Application for Temporary Uniform Variation form either through email to admin@foxwellssc.eq.edu.au or send with your child as either a hard copy or electronic version. The Application for Temporary Uniform Variation form is located on our website and attached here. Students will also find this form on the Student SharePoint.
  • Should your child be in a position that they have recently had a facial piercing and cannot remove it yet [which is a breach of the Student Dress Code], please complete and send, either through email to admin@foxwellssc.eq.edu.au or with your child as either a hard copy or electronic version. The Application for Temporary Wearing of a Clear Facial Piercing. This form is located on our website and attached here. Students will also find this form on the Student SharePoint.

  • Full black leather shoes are required as part of our Dress Code. This is not a change to our Dress Code but rather a reminder. Students are required to wear leather shoes to enter a Science Laboratory, Technologies Workshop or a Kitchen or during other classroom activities where the wearing of fabric shoes provide a Workplace Health and Safety risk. Students will be denied entry if their shoes do not meet Workplace Health and Safety requirements. Please refer to pp60 for further details.
  • Students in breach of the Student Dress Code who fail to present to Student Services, prior to the start of the school to apply for a uniform variation, will be issued a 20-minute detention regardless of whether they have a signed and completed Application for Temporary Uniform Variation. This is because the child has failed to follow the Breach of Student Dress Code Pathway – refer to p63.

  • Behaviour Referral Pathway update including a card system for the Re-Set process for students, refer to pp21 and 22.
  • Card system for students who are out of class - please refer to p22. Please read this section carefully as it pertains to safety measures for all students.
