G-STEM Update

Our G-STEM students are excitedly preparing for the Wonder of Science Regional Conference, hosted by Foxwell State Secondary College next week. Students have worked in groups of 2-4, responding to a STEM inquiry challenge, preparing to present their findings next Wednesday 22^nd June. A winning team from Year 7, 8 and 9 will be selected to present at the State Conference later in the year. Last year we were lucky to have two teams represent Foxwell at the State Conference!

Next week, our Year 7 G-STEM students will travel to the Queensland Museum SparkLab, and then to the University of Queensland to meet with their individual PhD mentors in preparation for Term 3.

In Week 2 of Term 3, Year 8 G-STEM students will travel to Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre, where they will partake in a full-day program on the boat Inspiration, adopting the role of Citizen Scientists and Environment Managers to observe marine debris and investigate possible impacts of this on marine environments. Permission forms will be sent out later this week, or early next week, via email.

Friday of this week, Year 9 G-STEM students will participate in the Griffith University Science and Engineering challenge 2022.

Unfortunately, our G-STEM t-shirt order did not arrive as requested. We are currently working with the company to rectify this order, and have shirts to students as soon as possible. Where students do not have a G-STEM t-shirt to wear to excursions, full formal uniform is expected.
