Athletics Carnival
The Foxwell State Secondary College whole school Athletics carnival is being held on Friday 24th June on college grounds for the very first time!
Students will be competing in a range of Track and Field, House Spirit and Novelty events to score points for their House with the ultimate goal of holding the 2022 House Champion Trophy! Pacific won it last year, can they hold their reign? Or will Oakey, Coral or Moreton take the honour!?
In order for students to participate in high-risk events of High Jump, Discus and Javelin, they must return a signed permission form to Mr. Taylor prior to the carnival. Students can access a permission form digitally on their SharePoint or collect a paper copy from student services or Mr. Taylor directly. To accommodate the carnival, some events will also be run in lunchbreaks prior to the 24th.
On the day students are encouraged to dress in their house colours: Coral: Green, Moreton: Maroon, Oakey: Red and Pacific: Blue. All attire is to be appropriate and students must wear closed in footwear. There will be sunscreen available, but students are reminded that sun safety is their responsibility and they need to apply and reapply at regular intervals. Wearing a hat is also strongly encouraged. Hydrating regularly is crucial and we urge students to bring their own bottle.
It is compulsory for all students to attend the Athletics Carnival. On the day, all students will have their attendance recorded and may not leave until dismissed at 3.00PM. The day will follow usual school hours and a program of events will be available to students and spectators on the day. Students not wishing to participate in athletic events can still engage in novelty events or cheer on their house to victory!
Food and drink is available from the canteen throughout the day & our P&C will be selling snacks and drinks too!
Spectating is possible from the parental viewing deck (indicated on pink on the Map). Bring a chair and take in the bird’s eye view of the carnival and the spectacular view over the Broadwater. Please keep in mind shade is limited here. Access to the parental viewing deck is via Foxwell Road and the Northeast Gate. Parking is available in the college carpark and the path to the viewing deck will be clearly marked on the day.
Let’s go Mariners!
