Head of Year Update
Hello and a very warm welcome from Mr Breese, the Head of Year 8.
It was my privilege to join the Foxwell community this year, in the Head of Year 8 role. I have been a teacher for 15 years, and have worked in both private and public schools in both the Gold Coast and Brisbane. I am a specialist Humanities and History teacher but have also taught both HPE, and English. I look forward to working with all the Year 8 students, and to help them feel that their journey through the Wonder Years of Foxwell is progressing both comfortably and enjoyably.
To that end, it is important that I remind all students of the basic expectations that we have at Foxwell. Basic expectations are important as they create a sense of equality across the student body and provide purpose. Schools require equality to ensure that our students develop a sense and respect for group identity. It is also important that we respect individual identity in our students. I believe that Foxwell does this exceptionally well.
I encourage all Year 8's to work on the following basic expectations that can be applied each day:
• Arriving to school and each class on time, with all learning materials including IPad, stylus and books
• Ensuring that they are interacting with both peers and teachers with respect and with a sense of social understanding
• Supporting each other to handle the social and academic expectations of each day
• Reflecting and taking ownership over anything which may occur throughout the day
We encourage open dialogue with our families, so I encourage you to reach out to any of the Year 8 team if you have any concerns or enquiries.
Mr Jason Breese
