Foxwell State Secondary College’s 2023 Cross-Country Carnival
Excitement is building for the upcoming Cross-Country Carnival, set to take place this Friday. This year students will be gearing up to compete in Foxwell’s new course using school grounds as a challenging track over natural terrain and bushland obstacles.
When: Friday 31st March (periods 3 & 4)
Where: Foxwell State Secondary College school grounds
What: Cross Country and House Challenge events
How: Compete in races and House Challenge events to find the overall winning house!
Students are required to wear their Foxwell sports uniform to school and will be able to change into their house colours during their lunch break.
Oakley: Red
Pacific: Blue
Coral: Green
Moreton: Maroon
Students must bring a hat and water bottle. Sunscreen and shade will be available.
Cross-country running is a great way for students to improve their cardiovascular endurance and overall fitness, develop a sense of purpose and motivation, as well as learn important skills like perseverance and resilience. Participating competitively in the race could also provide opportunity to compete in further representative races, with the top students from each division selected to compete in Broadwater trials.
Students can also be involved non-competitively in the race. There will also be popular college events such as tug-of-war and other House Challenge activities available for all students to participate in and enjoy throughout the day.
During the carnival, students will demonstrate the SPIRIT value of teamwork by working together to motivate each other, offer support, and work with others and build important social skills. The carnival also provides opportunity to build school spirit and a sense of community by cheering on their classmates and feel a sense of pride in their House’s achievements.
