Deputy Principal's Update
Term 2 Update
The beginning of Term 2 always seems to move quickly with the range of public holidays we enjoy in these first few weeks. Year 9s have not let the extra days at home stop them from going from leaps to bounds this term.
Our PEC elective classes have settled in and it's been wonderful to visit our amazing Cafe 4209 to watch our Year 9 students work through their barista training. All students will be provided with a week of theory and practical training using our industry standard coffee machines. I've been lucky enough to have a few wonderful almond flat whites made for me as students experience working in a busy cafe environment. On Monday, our Industrial Technologies and Anime Japanese students finish their time in the cafe, and our Music Class start their training on Tuesday.
On Thursday, we met as a cohort at our fortnightly Year Level parade to celebrate the achievements of our students and be reminded of some key dates and expecations of the College. We congratuated Ainslie Ryan on her successful audition for Jasper Jones with the Beenleigh Theatre Group, our interschool sports teams who represented the College with pride on Tuesday, our two Intermediate Debating Teams who both walked away with a win in their short preparation debates and all of our Year 9 students for their respectful participation in our ANZAC commemorations.
Our Acting Principal, Mrs Steinhardt, addressed students reminding them of our high expectations focusing on the SPIRIT value of Respect; reminding students that following teacher instructions is not negotiable and that students who demonstrate defiance or refusal to follow teacher instructions will have a serious consequences applied.
Special mention was also made to water-ballooon/bombs, explaining that these are prohibited items, along with a range of other items including aerosol deodorant cans, gum and replica/toy weapons.
