Science
Students in Term 3 Science are treated to another exciting, inquiry-based unit of learning.
In Year 9, students explain chemical processes and natural radioactivity in terms of atoms and energy transfers and describe examples of important chemical reactions. Their assessment will be a chemical experimental investigation, which they will submit in Week 6. Students will then complete a research investigation on the use of radioactive isotopes to preserve food, which they will submit in Week 10.
In Year 10, students explain the concept of energy conservation and represent energy transfer and transformation within systems. They apply relationships between force, mass and acceleration to predict changes in the motion of objects. Their assessment will be to investigate the different safety features of vehicles, and prepare a report that evaluates whether the government should change its views on its current safety standards in vehicles. This will be submitted in Week 9.
I encourage you to actively monitor your child's OneNote to monitor their progress over the course of the term, and to be in contact with the classroom teacher should you have any questions or concerns. I can also be contacted at nmccl31@eq.edu.au.
It is a pleasure to share in your child's learning journey.
