Good afternoon students and families.

As we very rapidly approach the end of the school year, it is with excitement that I inform you of the subject selection process for students entering Year 9 in 2024.

In Year 9, as students enter the Compass Years, they engage in a curriculum that allows for greater choice in subjects, providing students the opportunity to work in areas that they have an interest or passion in.

Attached to this email is the 2024 Year 9 Subject Handbook.  

It outlines the compulsory curriculum (English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science - History, Health and Physical Education (HPE) and Activate.

It also provides a summary of Personal Endeavour Courses (PECs) that form the elective courses that our Year 8 students will be able to select from for Year 9 in 2024.  Each student will choose 4 PECs that they will study over the course of the year.

Shortly, Year 8 students will participate in an information session at school, outlining the choices available to them. Students must finalise their decisions by Friday 3 November.  These selections will be recorded by students in OneSchool.  Further details on this process will be provided to students in the coming weeks.
