Reinstatement of 2020 School Immunisation Program Year 7
As outlined in earlier school newsletters, Gold Coast Health is providing free vaccinations for all Year 7 students as part of the Queensland Health’s annual School Immunisation Program.
As you are aware the delivery of the 2020 School Immunisation Program has been affected by the response to COVID-19 including social distancing measures and limited school attendance for the first five weeks of Term 2. We wish to advise that Queensland Health is committed to ensuring that all eligible year 7 students receive their adolescent vaccinations in 2020 through the School Immunisation Program.
Queensland Health is currently endeavouring to be able to host Year 7 Immunisations at Foxwell State Secondary College on Friday 5th June, 2020.
All Year 7 students are being offered free vaccinations as recommended on the National Immunisation Program to protect against vaccine preventable diseases. Students will be offered human papillomaviras (HPV) and diphtheria-tetanus-pertrussis (whooping cough) vaccination.
The vaccinations will be conducted by a team of authorised registered nurses and/or medical practitioners.
You will have previously received an email from Queensland Health in reference to immunisations with directions. If you do not have access to this email, a consent pack is available for pick up from school administration. Please read the information provided by Queensland Health carefully, and should you wish to proceed, provide consent via the directions provided
Parent, legal guardians or authorised persons are encouraged to ensure their children have eaten breakfast on the morning of the vaccination.
