Science Week
TERM 4 Week 7 2021
SCIENCE WEEK
Foxwell had guest appearances from famous scientists during Science Week, including:
All were prominent scientists and added to our knowledge and understanding of the many facets of science. Galileo’s work was in the area of astronomy and telescopes; Ms Franklin worked in X-rays, which showed the structure of DNA and viruses; Sir Newton worked in so many areas and famously gave us the theory of gravity, an understanding of white light and calculus; and Stephen Hawking worked extensively in the vast unknown world of space, specialising in exploding black holes.
The theme for Science Week 2021 was Food: Different by design. The Science faculty, with the assistance from teachers in all departments, made available 26 sensational activities for students to participate in: too many to list here, but just a few of the activities included makin: ice cream and butter, edible DNA, rock candy, sherbet, solar ovens with edible s’mores. All of these popular sessions had a common theme of creating food to eat at the end of the experiment. YUM! Thank you to all students and staff for your involvement in our fantastic Science Week activities.
