Health and Safety – Shoes
Please ensure your child is wearing their full black, leather shoes when they wear their formal uniform. These leather shoes provide protection to the foot should students, whilst in a lab or workshop, drop anything harmful, be it a liquid or a heavy/sharp object. Canvas, or cloth shoes do not provide the level of protection leather does, hence students with non- leather shoes may not be permitted into labs or workshops.
Students arriving to school with incorrect shoes, will be directed to Student Services to explain the situation. It is important that, if your child is wearing incorrect shoes, that you as a parent/carer, provide a note. If no note is presented, parents will be notified and asked to rectify the matter ASAP. Uniform variation passes will only be issued for extenuating circumstances.
Alternately for sport, students require a sports shoe, again for safety – to prevent slipping and other foot injuries. This sports shoes needs to be black also but does not need to be leather.
It is possible for a single pair of shoes to meet the requirements for both sports and formal uniforms. A black leather sports shoe, is very popular amongst our students.
We appreciate your support in ensuring your child is wearing appropriately safe footwear.
