COVID Update from the Principal

At Foxwell State Secondary College, we pride ourselves on regular and open communication with members of our College community. As we prepare for the official commencement of the 2022 school year on Monday 7th February, and during these two weeks of Student Free Days, we will continue to provide any necessary updates via SchoolZine Bulletins. I urge all parents and carers to read these Bulletins carefully, as they may contain critical information related to your child’s education, health and wellbeing.
As the COVID-19 Omicron wave peaks, it is likely that some staff and students will test positive or be close contacts. We are doing all we can to ensure the ongoing health and well-being of students and staff, and will continue to communicate the most up-to-date information we have in relation to positive cases who have been on site.
The most up-to-date COVID-10 Guidelines that we have, as at today, is that staff, or students, who have any symptoms must stay home. We also know that any staff or students who are deemed close contacts (by Queensland Health definition) must also isolate for 7 days and will not be permitted on the school site.
Should we have any confirmed positive cases, (who have been on our school site during their period of potential infection), we will be sending home a SchoolZine Bulletin to advise our College community. We will not disclose the identity, year level, or role of the positive person to ensure we protect their privacy. You will simply be informed that there has been a positive case on site on that particular day. We do anticipate that with our large student and staff population that this unfortunately may be a regular occurrence over the coming week/months.
Below you will see the standard letter that you will receive each time we are advised of a positive case. We are sending this to you today as we have had a Positive Case on our College site on the Student Free days this week. They are currently in quarantine for the required period, and did so once they became symptomatic.
We continue with our extensive daily cleaning regime, and have sanitiser available across the College campus. We will also be requiring students and staff comply with the Department’s current mask-wearing expectations.
We are currently awaiting a further update from the Minister of Education around our Return to School Plan, and will update you with any important information as it comes to hand. We thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
Stay well
