Assessment calendars have been prepared to support you and your child to stay on track with assessment. You will need to refer to your child's timetable to determine which class and subjects are relevant to them.
If you have any concerns please contact the relevant classroom teacher.
Semester 1 Report Cards and Student-led Conferences
Today you will receive, via email, your child’s Report Card for Semester 1, 2022. Please be aware that this Report Card provides cumulative results for Academic Achievement, Effort and Behaviour across Terms 1 and 2. Due to their differences in their curriculum, The Arts subjects are reported on separately, with students receiving a term result for each Arts subject they studied in Semester 1. The Report Cards can take some to be generated; if you haven't received it by Monday 25 July 2022, please email me directly: dnico0@eq.edu.au Ensure that you have checked your junk folder in your email just in case it is there.
Please be aware that if your child enrolled during Term 2 or was absent for a significant period of time and, therefore, has not had the opportunity to demonstrate achievement in a subject, they will receive a report for Effort and Behaviour only. More information to support your understanding of the Report Card is provided on Page 1.
Student-led Conferences will be held on Wednesday 27th July 2022 from 3.20pm to 7.30pm. These conferences are an invaluable opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers and further explore their progress this year. It is also helpful to gain insights from the teachers regarding feedback, strategies for improvement and any other considerations that may assist your child in developing their abilities even further. Students are required to attend these conferences as they will lead the conversations around their learning. If a teacher is no longer on staff at the College, you are welcome to contact the Head of Deparment with any questios or concerns.
The online booking system for you to arrange conferences with your child’s teachers, particularly those who have requested an interview via your child’s Report Card, can be accessed here. Please ensure that you book only one conference timeslot for each of your child's teachers, even if they are the teacher for more than one subject. This will allow us to maximise opportunities for teachers to meet with as many families as possible. It is worthwhile booking interviews as soon as possible as teachers’ schedules fill up quickly. Please note that the following teachers will not be available for conferences on Wednesday:
- Mr Justin Wise
- Ms Marnie Shillig
- Ms Peta Bemet
All bookings must be made by 6.00 pm, Tuesday 26th July. After this time, families will need to contact teachers directly to schedule an appointment for another date. Should you wish to discuss your child’s progress in these teachers’ classes, please contact the Head of Department of the particular subject area.
You are welcome to book interviews with Semester 1 teachers of your child, even if they will not be continuing with that subject (such as an Art elective) or with that teacher (due to a change in teachers) in Semester 2. A conversation focusing on learning behaviours and strategies for improving progress can translate and be meaningful across teachers and subjects.
In the meantime, please take the time to review your child’s progress together with them, engaging in the work they have completed in class, the evidence of their learning in their OneNote and Seesaw – including feedback from their teachers – as well as the information they can share with you about their learning. Good questions to ask, at any time, are:
- How did you go/how are you going with your learning?
- How do you know that this is how you are progressing?
- What are you doing to improve/which strategies are you implementing to improve in your learning and progress?
- How will you know if your strategies are working?
Learning dialogues are effective in engaging all partners in your child’s learning so it is helpful to make this a habit or routine in your home. We look forward to seeing you on 27th July in our Sports Performance Hall for our conferences.
