As we approach the middle of Term 3 (already!), it is timely to review our start to Semester 2, the final two terms of our compulsory schooling years. So far this term, amongst other things, we have:
* increased the number of Personal Endeavour Courses from 2 to 3, which means that the majority of subjects studied by students are now chosen by students. I am pleased to say that 100% of students have been able to study their Top 2 courses of choice while 81% have been able to pursue their Top 4 courses of choice.
* increased the number of Compass Courses from 1 to 2 for the term, providing students with more exposure to courses on offer in Senior Schooling. Some new additions this semester are Musical Theatre, Social and Community Studies, and Advanced Mathematics;
* conducted our first round of Senior Education and Training Plan (SETP) Meetings, with students and their parents/carers developing and reviewing these plans with a member of our leadership teams. We are currently in the process of booking interviews for those students and families yet to complete this process;
* engaged students in the "Love Bites" program as part of our focus on wellbeing and relationships;
* hosted guest speakers and presenters from our partners including The French Beauty Academy, ADFA and Australian Academy of Dental Assisting;
* enrolled students in 9 different Certificate Courses;
* enrolled students in 2 different School-based Traineeships;
* enrolled students in various Trade Tasters;
* engaged students in work experience across retail, hospitality, health and other industries;
* had students attend excursions relevant to our PECs and future pathways, including Men of Business (MOB) and Queensland Theatre;
* had students complete the Muay Thai Wellbeing Program;
* appointed our House Captains and House Vice Captains, who will now work with Ms Collins as part of the Student Council to serve our students. Congratulations to our Captains for 2023:
Coral House - Captain: Montana Atkinson; Vice Captain: Malakhy Hala
Oakey - Captain: Torryn Atamu; Vice Captain: Katelyn Paruru
Pacific House - Captain: Rev Vaeluaga; Vice Captain: Dion Woodley
Moreton House - Captain: Ryan Foran; Vice Captain: Ayden Courtney
So, we have been busy over the last four weeks! A particular thank you to Ms Davies, Mrs Street, Mr Anderson, the SET P Team, Ms Renton, Ms Moller, Ms Benbow, Ms Collins and the entire team of staff who continue to provide a world of opportunity to our students.
I look forward to seeing our students and families at our Student-led Conferences on Tuesday night, a valuable opportunity to engage in some focused and deliberate learning dialogue with teachers we head into the next phase of learning and assessment.
Have a lovely weekend!
