iPad / Macbook set up and collection (January 15-17)
2024 YEAR 7 STUDENTS: OPTION 1 (SCHOOL MANAGED iPAD)
iPads have arrived at the College and are fully set up. They need to be collected from the school from January 15-17, prior to the commencement of term. The IT Department will be open between 8.30am-3pm on these days for collection, where families will sign an EQ11 form and your student will be supplied with their login details. No appointment is required for collection of school managed iPads. Please endeavour to attend the College to collect your student's iPad during this time to ensure they are ready for learning on Day One of Term 1. If you are unable to collect the iPad during this time, we will work with you to complete paperwork and supply log in details during Week 1 of term.

2024 YEAR 7 STUDENTS: OPTION 2 (BYOD)
If your family has nominated the BYOD option, the IT Department will require to have your device overnight on either Monday (15 January) or Tuesday (16 January), for collection by Wednesday (17 January). This will ensure that your student arrives on Day 1 with their iPad ready for learning.
To ensure the prompt and effective set up of your BYOD device:
- Please make sure to sign out of the Apple ID (if applicable) as we will need to reformat the iPad for us to put it into our management system. If the iPad is locked be an Apple ID, this will halt the process. If unsure, please follow these steps - https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT208242
- Reformatting the iPad can take quite some time, so we will require to hold your iPad with us for 1 day to make sure it has the appropriate apps and policies installed.
- As per the agreement policy, this will restrict the iPad to school apps and restrictions only and cannot be altered in any way.
If you cannot make it between the Monday to Wednesday of January 15-17, we will endeavour to onboard your student's BYOD iPad in Week 1 of term.
YEAR 11 STUDENTS CHOOSING MACBOOKS FOR 2024
Year 11 students who have opted to purchase or use a Macbook for 2024 need to have this ready for operation prior to Day One of Term 1.
Year 11 students with MacBooks are encouraged to meet with the IT Department the week of 15 January to 17 January for onboarding of the MacBook. This does not require an Apple ID for this process to occur but please have the Mac past the setup stage so the onboarding can be completed promptly.
If you intend to purchase an iPad or Macbook over the holidays, you may wish to consider the educational pricing provided by JBHiFi. Please follow the attached PDF for how to access these prices and purchase your device.
EXISTING YEAR 8-11 FOXWELL STUDENTS WITH BYOD iPADs
It is an expectation that all existing Foxwell students in Year 8-11 arrive on Day One of the school year with their iPad set up and ready for operation.
For exisiting students:
1. Please update your iPad to the latest iPadOS version: iPadOS 17.1.1 or newer.
2. Please update your iPad apps and have the ‘InTune Company Portal’ installed. This will assist in onboarding to the school network in the new year.
3. For students with new iPads, please have the iPad signed into an Apple ID and the ‘InTune Company Portal’ app installed.
If you need support with this, the IT Department will be open in the week prior to the beginning of school from Monday (15 January) to Wednesday (17 January) from 8.30pm-3pm. No appointment needed.
All students are required to be equipped with the relevant stationery items and other materials, as per the list below. While your child will use a device during lessons, they will also be accessing other materials and must be prepared for learning, not matter the mode or format for learning. Please note that students are not to bring wireless headphones/AirPods to school - see the attachment for more information.
All families should have received their child's Report Card on Friday 8 December 2023. Please ensure that you check your Junk Email - the sender will have been OneSchool, not Foxwell SSC. Take the time over the break to discuss your child's progress and goals for 2024.
