We have now come to the end of the very first Semester for Foxwell State Secondary College. Who could ever have imagined the semester would include such change and uncertainty? What has been clear is the strong sense of community we have here at Foxwell and the dedication of staff, students and parents to always do what is best for our students.
I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge our staff who have gone way beyond what would normally be expected of them in a Semester. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that the academic and social progress of our students is supported and that the strong relationships they built early in Term 1 were maintained and enhanced over the Semester. They have spent many long days and nights, and worked across their holidays and weekends to ensure the very best for our students and I thank each of them for that.
Our parents have been extraordinary. If someone told them in February that they would be expected to be a key educator for their child, they would have thought we were crazy. But this is what was needed and can I applaud our parents for handling this challenge with such positivity and commitment. We have always valued and appreciated that parents are a significant partner in the education of their child/ren, but this Semester you have done so much more and our students and staff thank you.
The Foxwell students have been our stand out stars. They have been resilient and determined and have succeeded, with some even excelling during this time. Our students have demonstrated their SPIRIT values of Service, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility, Inclusivity and Teamwork in many ways this term and as a school we can be very proud of them. The skills and confidence to be highly capable independent thinkers and learners will set them up for great success into the future. Today I have chosen to showcase just a few of our students who have Excelled at Foxwell in their own unique ways. Over the year I will be sure to showcase many other students who have excelled.

Staffing
In Semester Two we will welcome two new staff members to the Foxwell team. Ms Hannah Jones and Ms Colby Wells will be joining our teaching team and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience across various industries. Ms Jones will be a member of our Inclusion Team, whist Ms Wells will be teaching a number of classes in the areas of Mathematics and Physical World. We are honoured that Ms Jones and Ms Wells have chosen Foxwell State Secondary College as their school.
Safe Holidays
I wish every member of our school community a very safe holiday. I will be spending some quiet time with my husband and two adult children on the Sunshine Coast and will be sure to catch up on some reading, exercise, and healthy eating. I hope that each of our families have the opportunity to share wonderful family moments that will create special memories. Please stay safe on the roads if you are travelling and also stay safe in your homes. Please continue to be vigilant in supporting your children to appropriately use technology so that they are not engaging in apps or conversations that are inappropriate or unkind. Remember that Kindness is the Foxwell Way and that bullying (including CyberBullying) is never acceptable.
Enjoy this well earned break.
See you next term.

We value the opportunity to engage with you as partners in your child’s learning journey and look forward to seeing you next Monday.
Winter Uniform
When we return after the holiday break, we head into, what is traditionally, the colder months of the year. It is therefore timely that we provide a further reminder of the winter uniform expectations.
During the colder months, the following items are acceptable:
- Foxwell SSC wattle coloured knitted jumper with school logo – to be worn with formal uniform ONLY
- Foxwell SSC ink blue jacket with school logo – to be worn with sports uniform ONLY
- Foxwell SSC ink blue track pants with school logo – to be worn with sports uniform ONLY
- Ink blue stockings/tights
- Foxwell SSC ink blue scarf with school logo
Beanies, balaclavas, knit caps with ear flaps or other similar headwear are not permitted. Undershirts must not be visible outside /through the uniform.
Hats and Shoes
As with all times of the year, the appropriate hat is required to be worn whenever students are outside; this includes traveling to and from school. We have a number of unclaimed and unlabelled hats at Student Services. If you child is missing a hat, please ensure this is resolved as soon as possible.
In addition, a reminder that our uniform policy stipulates black lace up leather shoes be worn with the formal uniform and plain black sports shoes (can be leather) be worn with sports uniform. Cloth, canvas and mesh type shoes do not meet workplace health and safety requirements nor do they meet our Dress Code. Students will not be permitted to participate in certain activities without leather shoes. Students reporting to school in incorrect shoes will be asked to call home to have the correct shoes delivered.
Sports Uniform Days – Term 3
From Term 3, there will be a few changes to students’ allocated time for practical lessons in Healthy World. Students studying Social World Arts (Dance) will wear their sports uniform for their practical lessons. On the allocated days (see table below), students will need to ensure they are dressed in their full sports uniform, including their college hat, and that they have adhered to the Dress Code regarding winter items as outlined above.
Please note the class codes and the relevant day for wearing the Sports Uniform so that students are able to engage in practical lessons. Students of 7G will have two sessions to note:

It is important that students wear the correct uniform each day. Should a student wear the incorrect uniform, they may be asked to contact home and ask to have the correct uniform delivered to school. Please support your child to be organised and meet school expectations with regards to uniform.
If you have any questions or are unsure about when your child should wear his/her sports uniform, please contact the subject teacher or Mr Anderson, HoD Healthy World on dande230@eq.edu.au
Should you have any concerns or need to discuss any extenuating circumstances regarding any aspect of our unform, please contact Zana Schroeder, Deputy Principal on zschr2@eq.edu.au
The Sporting Minds official training shirt will arrive early next term. There has been a number of delays caused by the interruption of international sea and air freight due to COVID-19. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Please ensure you have paid your Sporting Minds Excellence Program Fee in full so your child is eligible to receive his/her shirt.
If you have any concerns regarding the training shirt or payment, please contact the Finance Team at finance@foxwellssc.eq.edu.au
