Regardless of the complexities of this year, our school and staff have remained focused on providing a ‘world of opportunities’ for all students at Foxwell.
This has included the many extra-curricular activities that students have engaged in, but most importantly it has been our relentless focus on ensuring ‘success’ for all of our students. At Foxwell State Secondary College, when we refer to success, it is our students developing strong relationships, connecting, contributing and gaining fulfilment by flourishing academically, personally, socially and emotionally.
Through our Inclusive Education focus, we actively ensure that teachers know and understand each of their students, and intentionally cater for their unique needs. This can include extending and challenging students in their learning, sporting or creative pursuits, or providing support and intervention in both the academic and social areas.
At the upcoming P & C Meeting, our parents and community members will have another opportunity to provide feedback around our definition of ‘success’ and how we are progressing in catering for the needs of all learners. I encourage parents to join the meeting to have your say.
We are very proud of our school culture, and the ‘vibe’ parents, visitors, students and staff speak about as they discuss our school culture and environment. We intentionally focus on ensuring our school is a safe, supportive and inclusive school and the feedback from various stakeholders acknowledges our success in these areas. We greatly appreciate the positive feedback, however we also value the suggestions made, as we are always looking for ways to further improve.
Please don’t wait for a survey to have your say. If you wish to make suggestions please feel free to email admin@foxwellssc.eq.edu.au. In Week 4 of Term 4 our school will undergo the Foundation Year School Review by the Department’s Education Improvement Branch. During this review, staff, students, parents and community members can reflect on our successes and next steps in our school journey.
Our ‘worlds’ are not simply a clever or fun way to name our subjects. Our Worlds are carefully developed units of learning that align to the Australian Curriculum.
Although the learning areas are connected through teaching and learning to enhance our students’ deep learning outcomes, all students will continue to be assessed and reported on across the eight individual learning areas.
If parents want more detailed information, please contact Ms Zana Schroeder (Deputy Principal). Through ongoing conversations with our students and teachers, we can see the significant benefits to our students' self-understanding, knowledge, competency and connection.
Official School Opening
Next Friday, 11th September is a momentous day for our school community. Education Minister Grace Grace will officially open our school at the ceremony. Arrival at 9.15am for a 9.45am start in our Sports Performance Centre.
As previously detailed, we are limited to 50 parents/community guest in our audience (must book online for a seat), however we will also Livestream the event from our Facebook page.

COVID-19 – Safety and wellbeing
We continue to monitor the changing situation across Queensland in relation to COVID-19 and assure all parents should any infection become known in our school community, weill provide advice immediately. Some very important reminders to parents and students: Ensure hand hygiene, stay home if you are sick & do not share food and drinks with friends
(We have become aware that some students share food and drinks with friends and classmates. This is not an appropriate practice and will not be condoned by our school staff.)
There will be no class ‘parties’ or sharing of food and we ask that parents do not send in birthday cakes or other shared items at this time).
We appreciate your understanding, as we all work together to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community.
Until next time,
Mrs Kym Amor
Greetings from the Foxwell State Secondary College P&C Committee,
With Christmas fast approaching and, with that, the end of the very first year for our foundation year students, the Foxwell SSC P&C Association has planned three fundraisers with which we would value your assistance and support.
Coins 4 Kids
In November we will be asking students to collect and bring in spare small change - 5c, 10c or whatever you feel comfortable donating - to donate to the Coins 4 Kids drive.
The proceeds will go towards supporting our students in the purchase of a legacy piece to commemorate their first year at our brand new school.Start saving your spare change now and look out for more details to come.
We are also in the initial stages of planning a Christmas Raffle and would love some feedback from families or businesses that may be able to donate something towards the raffle for our students.
If you have a local business and would be able to support us with donations of prizes, please let us know.
Containers 4 Change
The Foxwell SSC P&C Association is registered with Containers for Change for donations of 10c containers. For those families who would like to donate their containers privately, our scheme ID is:
C10256140
A collection morning is also planned for Monday 9 November 2020 within the gated section of the school car park from 8:30 to 10.00am.
Please consider saving your 10-cent recyclable bottles, cans and drinkpaks and drop them off at the collection point during the morning school run. Your support with this event will be very much appreciated.
If you have any queries or feedback regarding any of these events, please contact me at foxwellpandc@gmail.com
Regards,
Michelle Digby

A number of families have been contacted in relation to unpaid invoices.
If your student is currently participating in an Excellence Program and you have not paid the relevant Excellence Program fee or the Student Resource Scheme, they will not be permitted to continue within the program.
Upon enrolment, all families signed the Student Resource Scheme Participation Form. By signing this form, Parents/Carers agreed to pay the nominated fee towards the SRS.
If you have an outstanding amount owing on your Students account, you will be unable to join the Scheme for 2021 and will need to provide all textbook licences, apps, software and resources for your students learning.
If you are having financial difficulties, please contact our Business Manager - Kimberley Knowles via email - kknow13@eq.edu.au
Did you know that you can have a deduction paid directly to Foxwell from your Family Tax Benefit?
You can nominate a fixed amount to be paid form your Family Tax Benefit directly to the School to cover your child's education costs. Please contact us via email for a CentrePay Application form at finance@foxwellssc.eq.edu.au
