We’ve had a very productive Term 1. Our Year 7s have settled well into high school routines and student engagement, across the school, has been positive. Many events that were cancelled or scaled back last year have been able to take place. I’d like to highlight some of these.
Our Harmony Week activities reinforced inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for students. This added great value to our strong school culture, and celebrated our SPIRIT values.
Our sporting stars continued to achieve great results across many sports throughout this term. Whether these were individual achievements in their chosen sports including Tennis, Athletics, Sailing, Boat racing, Swimming, Gymnastics and Equestrian, or team achievements, we are very proud. Once again our sporting prowess and our sporting SPIRIT were on display. We intended to celebrate these great achievements at our Celebration Assembly in the last week of Term; however, we have postponed this event until Week 3 Term 2 when all students are back at school. If your child has achieved personal sporting success, of which we may not be aware, please be sure to advise our Head of Sport – Ms Bullock.
The achievements of our students across other areas continue with our Debating Teams all winning their first round debates. Our singers, dancers, actors, and artists never cease to astound us with their creativity and brilliance. Our eSports teams are still growing in number and confidence as they train and compete at local and national competitions. Our College Ambassadors and House Captains have already demonstrated their strong leadership since their induction, and we look forward with great confidence to how they will lead our school across 2021.
This week, I would like to recognise the courage and determination of one of our Year 7 students. For the third time, Aiden has participated in the ‘World’s Greatest Shave’ and has raised vital funds for a worthy cause. We are so proud of you, Aiden, and honoured that you are a member of our College community.
At Foxwell, there are also so many students who are quiet achievers and these students deserve their own recognition. They are the students who attend school on time very day, organised and demonstrating a positive attitude and a growth mindset. They support others through collaboration, peer feedback, or just through their positivity and a ‘smile of encouragement’. I want these students to know that we see them, we acknowledge them, and we thank them. They are the reason that our College is a unique and special place where students feel that they belong and can feel safe.
I take this opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary staff of our College. They are the most positive, generous and collaborative staff with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working, and they do it all for one reason – to provide the best education and a World of Opportunity for every student.
This last week has thrown us a few curve balls and I thank our community for its support, agility and resilience. We will continue to keep families updated throughout the holidays if anything changes in relation to COVID-19 lockdowns and other implications. This will be through our normal communication channels of Newsletter email and Facebook alert. Please keep updated, though my great hope is that we are back safe and ready for another great term at Foxwell.
When we return, I am sure you will observe great developments in our Stage 2 build. Already this week we have seen the beginnings of our four-storey building so you can begin to imagine the scope of this project. We are very excited and can’t wait to see how much change occurs over the next few weeks.
Thank you for being a valued member of our College community. Together we truly are great.
I wish all students a very successful end to the term and a safe break with families.
Until next time

Join us in congratulating our Year 7 student Aiden on his fantastic fundraising efforts in the World’s Greatest Shave this year.
This is Aiden’s third year in participating in the Leukaemia Foundation's Worlds Greatest Shave, a national event that aims to raise vital funds to support the growing number of Australians diagnosed with blood cancer including leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related blood disorders.
Aiden certainly embodies our SPIRIT values, demonstrating Kindness is the Foxwell way! We couldn’t be prouder.
From time to time, schools are in a position where timetable changes may occur for students. Where possible, we always endeavour to ensure these changes align with an end of term break in learning. We would like to advise our parents and carers that a small number of timetable changes will occur commencing from Day 1 of Term 2. These changes may impact your child's allocated teacher for a subject. They may alternatively impact your child's allocated classroom for a subject. All students will receive an email copy of their new timetable on Day 1 of next term. There will be no changes to sports uniform days in Term 2.
