School Re-Opens Tomorrow 9th August
We have now received the full advice from our Director General and I wish to update you on the additional restrictions that will be in place from tomorrow at Foxwell State Secondary College
All students (unless they are sick, awaiting a COVID test result, or are in Home Quarantine) are expected to be at school to resume their normal timetabled lessons tomorrow. Reminder, the first bell rings at 8.35am and students should be in their classrooms by 8.45am.
Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of all members of our school and local community.
To do our best to ensure this, our College will:
- ensure that ALL students and staff wear an appropriate face mask at ALL times (except when eating or drinking).
- ask ALL staff and students to be seated when eating or drinking, and only remove their mask when in the process of eating or drinking.
- provide sanitisation at the entry to the school and all learning/working spaces, and expect all students and staff to regularly sanitise their hands.
- employ additional cleaners to provide additional and regular cleaning to all spaces within the school throughout the school day, to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and sanitisation.
- limit activities that involve close physical contact (where possible).
- limit large gatherings of students in the one space, such as assemblies.
- require any student or staff member who presents unwell to go home immediately.
- all extra-curricular activities are cancelled until further notice. This includes eSports, sports training, What I Need Time (WIN) tutoring and homework support, Dance and Drama activities.
- communicate information about instrumental music lessons via Sharepoint on Monday.
- cancel all excursions and inter-school/District/Regional sports activities until further notice.
- restrict parents from being on the school site unless absolutely necessary. We ask that parents/carers stay in their cars at pick up time. Please feel free to call the school number 5555 3333 (even from the car park) if picking up your child early because we have called to say that they are unwell etc. We will support your child to the car.
- reschedule to a later date any Enrolment Interview bookings for Year 6 students and their families.
We ask all parents to ensure that their child has an appropriate face mask with them every day, and to have a conversation with your child(ren) about the need to wear this mask at all times. We ask parents to ensure their child is wearing their mask on public transport or from the moment they leave your vehicle or enter school grounds via bike or scooter or other means.
All staff (except those with medical exemptions approved by the Principal) will be wearing masks as is the directive from the Chief Health officer.
Please ensure your child is wearing a suitable face mask each day.
Please also ensure that your child is collected from school at 3pm as all after-school programs are cancelled.
There are some further simple steps we must all take to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Foxwell community.
Wash hands frequently and sanitise where sanitiser is available in classrooms and other areas around the College.
Where it is possible, social distancing is to be practised.
If students are unwell, please keep them at home and get them tested.
We thank you in advance for complying with all restrictions that have been put in to place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members of our school community.
Please contact the College directly via email or phone if you have any questions, so we can provide specific advice for your situation.
Thank you, Foxwell Community, for always putting the best interests of our whole community first.
