Dear parents and carers
As you may be aware, an unfortunate incident occurred at school on Friday afternoon resulting in a student being injured and requiring assistance from the Queensland Ambulance Service.
First and foremost, I want to reassure you that we treat the safety and welfare of your children, our students, as our highest priority at all times.
I would also like to further reassure you that reports of the incident being a bashing by another student are unsubstantiated. I can also advise that many rumours about the medical condition of the student are also unfounded. Out of respect for the privacy of the child and their family, I will not provide any detail other than to confirm that the child is now at home and no longer in hospital.
While I appreciate your desire to understand the specifics of this matter, I am sure you would understand that I am unable to go into any details for student privacy reasons.
In that respect, I would ask you to consider refraining from providing commentary about the issue on social media or other forums. These forums will be monitored for inappropriate comments which will be removed immediately out of respect for all involved.
I acknowledge the delay in providing this advice, but note that I respectfully awaited the approval of those involved before I made a community announcement.
I am only too happy to meet with any parent who has a concern and support services are available for anyone who may require assistance.
We are focused on providing a safe and secure learning environment and continuing to deliver the best education possible.
Finally, I would reiterate that the safety and welfare of your children continues to be the highest priority for the school. Their wellbeing will not be compromised in any way.
Thank you for your continuing support of Foxwell State Secondary College.
