Local Government Area three-day lockdown
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you would be aware, the Premier has today announced the following local government areas will be entering a three-day lockdown, from 4pm Saturday 31 July 2021 until 4pm Tuesday 3 August 2021.
- City of Brisbane
- City of Gold Coast
- City of Ipswich
- Lockyer Valley Regional Council
- Logan City
- Moreton Bay Region
- Noosa Shire Council
- Redland City
- Scenic Rim Regional Council
- Somerset Regional Council
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
Anyone who has been in these local government areas is expected to stay at home unless for an essential purpose. This includes people who have travelled to these areas from other locations. In accordance with the Queensland COVID-19 planning framework (PDF, 235KB), schools will be open to students of essential workers or vulnerable children only.
On Monday 2 August Foxwell State Secondary College will be closed to the majority of students. Children of essential workers, where alternate care or supervisions arrangements can not be made, will still be allowed on site and will be supervised at school.
On Tuesday 3 August our Continuity of Learning Program will begin for all students. Children of essential workers, where alternate care or supervisions arrangements can not be made, will still be allowed on site and will be supervised for their online learning at school.
Further information regarding Continuity of Learning for students at Foxwell State Secondary College can be found below. We endeavour to keep our community updated should there be any further developments.
Dedicated school transport will continue to operate during lockdown. Our school canteen and uniform shop will be closed during the lockdown. All on-site sports and extracurricular activities will be postponed.
There is now a requirement that, in the 11 affected local government areas, all high school students and all staff in all schools are to wear masks while at school. While this is a new requirement in school settings, all people over the age of 12 should already be wearing masks when out in the general population. It is expected that provision of masks is the individual's responsibility.
It is important we continue to follow Queensland COVID-19 safe practices including good hygiene, physical distancing measures and any face mask requirements.
If you, or a member of your family, are feeling unwell or displaying symptoms of COVID-19, please consult your GP.
Further advice, such as information on local COVID-19 testing centres, is available from the Qld Health COVID-19 website.
We endeavour to continue providing further updates via email.
