We are in the final countdown to the opening of our school and we couldn’t be more excited.
We are looking forward to seeing our Year 7 students proudly walking through the front gates as the Foundation students of Foxwelll State Secondary College.
This is an important transition moment for them as they enter their secondary education and we assure you as parents that we will do all that we can to make this transition a positive moment in their lives.
FIRST DAY PROCEDURES
In the preparation for the first day there are a number of important things to consider and do. Please make sure that your child has the best opportunity for success by ensuring they have necessary requirements on Day 1.
We will commence our first day of teaching on this day, after we have taken our students on a tour of the school to ensure they comfortably know their way around and know how to find the important facilities in the school. We ask that students arrive to school no earlier than 8.15 and no later than 8.45 on Tuesday 28th January. There is ample parking spaces available for families to walk your child in to school or to use the stop-drop-go lane to drop you child off.
Please remember when using the stop-drop-go lane to always go to the very front of the lane and do not stop just anywhere along this lane as it will cause a traffic jam and is disrespectful to your fellow parents and carers.
Let’s always think about how we can be a kind and supportive school community member.
Students will be directed to their first meeting location by staff on site. They will be expected to be seated by 8.50am ready for the exciting day ahead of them. They will need to have their book list requirements, their iPad, a water bottle, and food for their morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Please ensure that all belongings are clearly marked with your child’s name.
All students MUST be in full formal uniform on this day and be wearing their formal hat at all times. We encourage students to put sunscreen on before they arrive at school, and have sunscreen in their bags if they wish to reapply during the day. By 9.00am parents will be asked to leave the school grounds. We have the support of a local cafe who will providing a special deal for parents who may wish to go and have a relaxing coffee/tea and cake to celebrate this very special day in the life of your family.
We will be holding our first school assembly at 2.30 pm on the first day. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend.
STAYING SAFE ON THE SCHOOL SITE
Whilst the majority of our school development will be completed ready for Day 1 there are still a number of projects to be completed over the coming months. These areas will be fenced off and clearly marked as construction sites. No member of the school community is permitted to enter these sites at any time (including our staff).
Please stay safe as we bring you one of the most innovative and well designed schools in the country. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
Although our school ovals will not be completed for Semester 1, we will have smaller ovals on the school site ready from Day 1. We also have access to local sporting fields and buses to transport students to events should this be required. Our school has quite a substantial amount of playing space and also has an age appropriate playground and kinesiology room/gym to encourage our students to be active during the school day.
Of course we also have the most extraordinary sports centre which is home to two full size sports courts ready for use by our students from Day 1. Rest assured that our students will be well catered for in relation to their sporting opportunities at our school.

Getting your iPad ready for School
At Foxwell State Secondary College, we operate a BYOx solution that enables students to use their privately owned iPad to access school email, learning applications, printers and shared network drives at the school. Microsoft Intune, a mobile device management platform, allows the school to image to student devices all required learning applications and settings required for a seamless commencement to the school year. iPads can be enrolled into Microsoft Intune from any location with any WIFI connection. We ask that families enrol student devices into Micrsoft Intune prior to the commencement of the school year.
Enrolling your child’s device into Intune, will mean your child will be able to:
- access the school Wi-Fi network and have school email automatically set up and configured
- access the school’s learning applications and websites
- self-manage their device
For this process your students MIS Identification is required. All students who have previously been enrolled in an Education Queensland school will have access to their MIS Identification.
Directions for enrolling your student into Microsoft Intune, downloading the require applications and setting up email can be found in the following document. Should you have any issues during the enrolment process please email kshep115@eq.edu.au.
Please see below PDF link for instructions.
For those requiring additional assistance with this process after following the attached guide, a member of staff will be available onsite between 9am and 3pm on Monday 20th January at the Administration building.
Medications and Asthma Management Plans

At Foxwell State Secondary College, we operate a House System. At this point in time, the House allocation of students is by colour only. We will make all attempts to maintain house groups with approximately the same number of students.
House groups:
- Maroon: A - G
- Green: H - M
- Red: N - R
- Blue: S - Z
When school uniforms are collected, students will receive their reversible bucket hat with their House colour.
Early in Term 1, we will run a competition to name our houses. Students in each house, will then have an opportunity to design a house logo. Our amazing, Community Engagement Officer and resident Graphic Designer, Celeste Fishburn will support the design process for creating our house logos.
Students will be able to earn house points across the fields of Academic, Sporting, Cultural and Leisure/extra-curricular activities.
In addition, house points may be awarded for, but not limited to the following:
- Consistent demonstration of our Spirit Values [Service, Perseverance, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility, Inclusivity and Teamwork]
- Consistent demonstration of our School Rules [Responsible, Respectful and being a Learner]
- Attendance
